Patrick J. Richardson has been certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney since 1989. He practices in East Brunswick, New Jersey, handling primarily personal injury, malpractice, Municipal Court and Workers’ Compensation cases. Personal injury and Wrongful Death Claims include automobile, bus, truck, train, motorcycle, sports, pool, and construction accidents, nursing home abuse and neglect, bites, birth defects, burns, product defects, and unsafe property.
He received his J.D. Degree from Rutgers Law School in Newark in January of 1982. Thereafter, he served a Judicial Clerkship with the Honorable John E. Bachman in Superior Court, Middlesex County in New Brunswick.
In 1983, he was appointed Deputy Attorney General for the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, which is the State Attorney General’s Office. He concentrated on civil litigation with much of the caseload dealing with injury cases. While serving as a Deputy Attorney General, he provided representation to the N.J. Judiciary, N.J. Department of Human Services, Department of Corrections, Department of Transportation, N.J. Transit Rail, and other State agencies and employees in civil jury trials in both the State and Federal Court systems. The position required handling civil rights trials including Section 1983 actions as well as civil service appeals.
He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1982. He has also been admitted to the Bars of New York, Pennsylvania, United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and United States Court Appeals for the Third Circuit.
He currently serves as an Arbitrator for the Superior Court of New Jersey in Middlesex and Somerset Counties, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He was formerly an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. He served as a Board Member for the New Jersey Supreme Court District Fee Arbitration Committee for Middlesex County for four years. He has been a volunteer for the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Mass Disaster Relief Program since 1997. He lectures for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education on Civil Trial Preparation.
