When we first came into the office on the morning of October 7th, we quickly realized that our servers had rebooted around 3am, unbeknown to us. We reached out to Bulletproof who at first informed us that they knew nothing about the reboot, but worked on fixing the issue. Eventually it was identified that someone within Bulletproof had infact scheduled this reboot, without informing us at the town. Reason given for not informing us, was that the user who rebooted the server didn't anticipate it causing any issues. The reboot impacted all bar 1 department within the town, and the departments that were impacted, were unable to work efficiently for around 4hours. In future I would like to be informed of all planned reboots or downtimes, as in this case we had dozens of users impacted. I'd also be curious to see if a check was made that no one was online working at the time of the reboot? Unlikely anyone would have been at 3am, but not a guarantee.
