About Us
Sussan, Greenwald & Wesler was founded over 37 years ago when Theodore Sussan first established his general practice. In 1975, personal circumstances involving his autistic son compelled him to gain an in-depth understanding and appreciation for the special education rights of school-aged children between the ages of three and twenty-one. This in turn led to his focus on special education law.
Today, Sussan, Greenwald & Wesler is recognized as one of the leading special education law firms in New Jersey, having helped thousands of special needs children receive access to the educational opportunities they might otherwise have not had. In some cases, this has meant fighting to set legal precedent in the state.
Our success rests in part on the broad perspective we take in addressing the legal needs of our young clients. Equally prepared to advocate in a school district IEP meeting as we are to litigate in the courtroom, this perspective ensures all strategic opportunities are explored and maximized.
The firm’s success is also a function of the legal acumen of its attorneys, each of whom has a wealth of experience, not just in the law, but also special education itself. Each attorney is professionally credentialed in another discipline in the special education field. In addition, all of the firm attorneys are themselves parents of children with special needs.
