About Us
Incorporated in 1868 under a special act of New Jersey Legislature, Elmwood is a non-sectarian cemetery operating under state laws and the New Jersey Cemetery Board. Our sole purpose is the respectful burial of the dead and the care and beautification of the family plots and general grounds.
Elmwood’s Board of Directors established a Maintenance and Preservation Fund in 1923 guaranteeing that property owners’ graves and lots would be tended for future generations. Since then, Elmwood has continued to exceed state funding requirements out of a commitment to preserve the integrity and character envisioned by its founders.
Elmwood Cemetery welcomes people of all faiths, creeds, races and religions. For over one hundred years Elmwood has enjoyed the richness of New Brunswick’s diverse people and cultures.
